Weird audio interface problems

Hi all, I've hit upon a strange problem which I'm hoping someone will be able to solve.

Up until recently, I've been recording into Zynewave Podium Free with a Presonus Audiobox 44VSL without any issues; however, recently I've been thinking a DAW upgrade would be a good idea. Downloaded trials of Reaper and ACID Pro, then found the Audiobox inputs weren't working with either piece of software. The outputs worked fine, but there was no read from the inputs in the DAW (they were set ok, I checked.) Not long afterwards, Podium started crashing every time the Audiobox was selected as the device.

I assumed that the Audiobox had died (new drivers etc and trying it on my laptop didn't work either) so I reluctantly bought a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. However, the Scarlett does the same thing. Both my desktop and my laptop, with ACID, Reaper, Sonar X2, and Podium. I've tried everything I know, even wiped my desktop clean and reinstalled Windows, but no joy. I just can't work out how two audio interfaces, two computers, and 4 DAWs can all be failing to work in the same way. Both computers are using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, if that helps.

Anyone got any advice or suggestions? Not being able to record is torturous! :P

I assume you have been into your DAW preference list and verified the units are available and selected the input?
I always get burnt when I try new software....hang in there someone will be along.

Update: downloaded the Focusrite/Novation edition of Ableton Live Lite, and it works fine with the Scarlett. Wouldn't be my first choice in DAW, but hey, at this point I'm just glad to be able to record music again! Guess I better hit the tutorials up!
