Thanks for the compliments. This amp has been a fun project. I've wanted to build one like this for some time. I came up with the design after looking at photos of different amps from the period.
The cabinet is birch plywood. I formed the three inch radius on the front with bendable plywood. (That stuff's amazing) The grill cutouts were made with a plunge router, and template. I then covered the front/top with birch veneer. The materials I used were all scrap.
The finish isn't done. What you see on there is a sand/seal coat. These are pictures I took last night after I fit it all together for the first time.
The amp is a late fifties Realistic hi-fi monoblock that I rebuilt, and modded for guitar. It's a neat little amp. EL84's P/P. I know I'll have fun experimenting with it. The speaker is a Magnavox ALNICO from an organ of the same period.
