just out of curiosity....
at4033->dmp3->audiophile.....
cheap "system." i haven't actually got the preamp, so im kinda wondering about getting a better used pre instead. or should i give up...

Well, I don't know where you are in the curve, but if your just starting out that sounds like a perfectly good starting point.

For acoustic guitar--other stringed instruments--and vocals that should sound very good.

I have a DMP3, and have been very pleased. Nice, balanced tone (if slightly warm), and extremely quiet. Good selection.

Yea, I think you should probably do that. Just kidding. Some really good choices there . . . if used properly, you could get some pretty high-quality sounds with that setup.
