Thanks for your notes guys, try to work on a new version tonight. . .

Okay I think I'm starting to get that warm punch I was looking for. Maybe overdid it a little but hell I love a fat drum n bass. I've been able to address some of the issues but the drum stuff eludes me still.

I brought the second guitar back, I like it to a fault maybe. I think the lifeless sound is from the amp sims anyway so it could probably use that extra excitement.

Maybe try some different drum patterns mixed in for next version but I don't know what I'm doing, I grew up with drum machines, don't blame me. :D

Version 4 was best, buddy. Don't overthink it.
This one is definitely "warmer", but it just sounds like either more bass or some EQ boost in the 200-500 range. It was better more raw. Is this the same vocal? It sounds different than the vocal on 4 to me. Did you redo or or eq it differently? Anyway, V4!

I love your vocal tone w/ this new mic. Did you boost somewhere in the low-mids on the vox? Sounds a little muddy/beefy to me. Not a fan of the snare sound-it's like a rice krispie pop! (we can debate how you spell krispie).

It seems you're on a new wave of songwriting lately - when did this start? w/ the new mic? these are more folk-rock-pop-upbeat-REM-style than I remember in the past. the rhythm guitars are basic strums on basic, major chord progressions in a 140-ish bpm straight 4/4. (usually makes for a good "drivin-down-the-highway" tune) i like them a lot though, very catchy and i just love that vocal sound.

Thanks man, yeah I dunno I'm all over the place for the past few months but maybe I'm starting to settle into something. Shows, my mixes are all over the place too haha

The vox are hard to mix this one, I have no idea why. Recording issues probably. No boosts on the lead vox, just got this boxiness in the low mids I'm trying to troubleshoot. Might be the room, maybe a bit of proximity effect, it's better now than it was, so at least there's improvement.

Okay I'm sick of this one so I think this is getting uploaded. I added some variety in the drums so hopefully it's not as repetitive in a bad way (heh). I swapped out the snare too and eased off the low mid boost. I think it's still got a bit of that warmth but doesn't sound too artificial.

Thanks a lot guys for your help, I think I'm getting better at this, ever so slowly. . . :D

cool snappy song, I like this version best. the snare sounds better, better pop and has a crisp edge to it. the vocals sound better also, I really like the BGV. I was humming it in the shower :D

The drums sound more natural. I can tell you worked on the fills. Levels are good. I'm hearing the nuances of the vocal better on this version. Good job.

Yeah, drums are better. There are still some pretty long passages where it's doing the same thing on repeat. Have you tried running them through a humanizer?

Yeah they're on 10% random velocity and timing, guess the guy who recorded the midi was just really precise heh.
