WDM in 98se?

Ok, well after my experiance with XP, and even 2000 (Cant get my Delta 44 to get happy with 2000). I have dedcided to go back to 98SE for my DAW. Well it looks like M-Audio does have WDM drivers for 98se (Do I have to tell Sonar to use the WDM instead of the MME or is it automatic?). But what I am pondering is this. I use my SantaCruz for midi. But the SantaCruz only has WDM in 2000 and XP. So does that mean I will have no WDM support for softsynths? (I mean getting low latency). Because what I would be doing is just using the midi on the Santacruz, and audio out using the Delta. Arggg, this is a pain, lol.

I had this same question...

I posted this question at another forum, here's the link:

I haven't heard anything on it so far.

I believe Sonar will automatically use WDM drivers.
You have to tell it to use MME drivers if you don't want it to use WDM.

In Options>Audio>Advanced Tab there is a check box for that.
But that doesn't help you I know.

Good Luck, A1MixMan

Are you sure that M-Audio has WDM drivers that they say will work in Windows 98 SE? That was not my interpretation from their website.

In their list of drivers at

http://www.m-audio.com/drivers.htm

in the section on Windows 9x, there are only the standard Vxd/MME drivers dated 3/26/2001 and the new (finally not beta) multiclient Vxd drivers... same for Windows ME... only in the Windows 2000 section do WDM drivers appear.
