WDM Driver Problem

The Yamaha OPL3-SAx WDM Driver is not responding or working properly on my system.I purchased the Yamaha DS2416 and AX44 sound card.The DS2416 checks out fine on the tests .So everything is connected correctly.I have a Compaq 900Hz AMD,64MB,40GB.My software I'm trying to use is Sonar.I've been to Cakewalk,Yamaha,Compaq,Windows and other resources trying to download updated drivers.No luck yet.I've also e-mailed their web sites for a possible solution.No response yet.My computer says it is using the best driver for the situation but states,does not have all drivers installed,is not present or is not working properly.This thing is brand new.Please Help, Thank You
 
Im assuming the Compaq has an onboard sound card....have you disabled it?....this probably wont help you, but it wont hurt either...
 
A couple questions for you.
What operating system is that? Which model Compaq are you using, a Deskpro or a Prosignia, etc.? Have you tried removing the card and re-installing from scratch?

Quite possibly crappy WDM drivers.
If you installed the soundcard after you installed Sonar, you need to run profiler over again, or maybe get in the menu and see if WDM is enabled or not.

Thank You guys for responding so quickly.I tried to disable the original sound card but it keeps coming back.My system is a Windows ME Desktop 5000 Series #5WV271.Thats my next step to remove the sound card and re-install it.The sound card was installed before Sonar.I did isolate the driver but but my computer says if I make any changes that could disrupt other functions in the computer.Thanks again for all your replies.
 
ok,
ME will install any hardware it finds automatically. So you need to hit F10 (or whatever is happens to be) at your post screen and go into the Bios. You can disable On-Board sound in there. Then Windows will not see the soundcard and will not install it.

I don't know that this will fix your problems, though. It can't hurt. The WDM drivers are very dependant on your soundcard manufacturer.
