In my opinion, generally speaking, country music sucks. It's terrible. As bad as rap. Of course, since God likes to screw with us, naturally he allowed one country album to be great (WJ's Honky Tonk Heroes). So now we can't say "all country music sucks".

I had to play this like I play everything (3 alternating power chords) because I can't play guitar. As penance for that, I ignored the original bassline and came up with a pointlessly meandering one that really doesn't help or hurt the song, but at least I got to move my fingers a little.

Any comments on the mix would be great. I can't tell if my ears are just temporarily fried or if it's too bright.

Thanks!

At first listen i wouldn't have said this was too bright to my ear. It's definitely not dull though. Well the cymbals were pretty bright, a bit 'thin' sounding maybe, especially the crashes, but that's what cymbals are i guess. They swamped everything a bit at about 1:45. The power chords seemed a smidge too loud to me and the vocal could come up a smidge or 2 as well, if you are familiar with that unit of volume metering. Your walking bass seemed to do the job. There's nothing wrong with country music, mightn't be much right either, but depending on where your looking from, that's the way with all things really. That's all i've got.

The picked guitar notes behind the vocal are more distracting than anything else, specially in the chorus - would be better to have these little licks between the vocal phrases.

Ah, just ignore me if I start ranting about something stupid. Yesterday was a long day of drinking and college football with guys I grew up with, and by the time I posted this song I was practically howling at the moon. I have nothing against any kind of music unless someone is forcing me to listen to something I don't like. And even in that case, it is the person doing the forcing that must be dealt with swiftly and harshly, not the music. I don't blame the GUN when someone shoots someone else, either! :)

I will turn down the side guitars a bit, I agree with that. I'm going to listen to this again and determine if this is giving me a headache, in which case I'd better darken it a bit. Thanks for the listen and the comment.

As far as the notes distracting you from the song... don't worry, you weren't missing much! :)

Thanks for the comment. I'll move those picked notes around and see if I can find a better fit for them.
