Ive heard wavelab is superb but works best with cubase, im using logic 3.6 and want something like wavelab if its compatable? or any other ideas please!

Not the exact answer to your question, but I use Wavelab together with Sonar and think it's a great combination.
I use it as my wave editor, mastering program, and CD burning program. I feel it compliments Sonar very well.
As a wave editor, it actually shows up right on the Sonar tools menu. If I want to use it to edit a track, I just highlight the track and select Wavelab from the Sonar Tools menu. Wavelab opens with the clip loaded and ready to go. Make your edits and save them, go back to Sonar, and Sonar asks if you want to accept the changes.
It's a bit pricey, but a great program.
