wavelab equivalent for mac (harmonic content graph)

hey all,

i'm throwin this into noobs section cos i don't really know much about it.

I didn't want to put it under cubase, cos i'm lookin for an alternative to steinberg's wavelab.


put simply, i need a program for mac that will display a graph of amplitude/frequency/time like wavelab does.
this is literally the only function that i requre.

obviously the preference is that's it's a free plugin for protools, or standalone program.

i've looked at and downloaded a crapload of free programs, but none of them have this 3 dimensional display.

any advice is appreciated!

You mean the waterfall chart? I imagine there is freeware out there. Also, a Mac version of WL is supposedly due out this month . . .

sadly, i'm not sure that i can wait a month, or afford it! lol.

Yeah I know what you mean Paul .... we have this plug in that shows it but it's not that good at all. Kind of like a oscilloscope and is kind of not to precise just a general oh lookie see at that .
Gonna wait for that Mac version then look out!

thanks for the replies. i'm in the same boat cos i have waves frequency plugs, but really they're only good for a real time glance at what's going on.

i don't know for sure, but i think i'm gona have to have a decision on what i'm using within the next few weeks ( dissertation proposal is looming apparently )

Can I ask what you use that function for? I have WLE 6 and I see the graph, I just don't really know why I'd use it. I used it one time to try to measure something like an impulse decay of my room, but it didn't work out so well.

Just curious.

yeh, no probs man!

specifically what i'm wanting to do is compare harmonic content of various recordings.

the aim is to draw conclusions about the impact of microphone position against microphone types,

so i'll be using a range of mics, in a range of positions, each time recording the same thing, then comparing the graphs.

i've just discovered that audacity will plot a graph like this

i'm not concerned with decay, so maybe this would do?
