WAV to MP3

I'm a musician, not a puter tech, so I need help converting my music files so I can share them. I'm working with win XP, pent 4. If anyone can explain the steps for converting my WAV files to MP3 files I would be very thankful, and it might help a lot of nuwbies who are trying to do the same thing.
 
You can user an editor to convert thw WAV.'s to MP3's....


I use Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge 6.0, but you can use a freeware / shareware program for free. :)

Musicmatch Jukebox is good too. It's free and it uses the Fraunhofer codec.
 
I second the vote for CDex. It's free, fast, and it uses LAME, which is by far the best free encoder. With VBR (Variable Bit Rate) you get files that are compact, but extremely high quality.
