So Im mixing down to my PC from my Boss BR-8 through an Echo Gina into Nero Wave Editor v5.5. Im getting a great sounding stereo wave on the screen that I can edit and EQ (which is exactly what I want). So Ive edited the file, done a little final EQ'ing and now Im ready to burn a CD of this song.

How do I get this to a readable format for a CD Player?
Ive looked at CD's on my PC before and they look like they have a *.cda extensions, but the only option I have in Nero Wave Editor and to save it as a *.wav file, *.aif file, *.mp3 or *.vqf.
Do Cd players read *.wav Files? Would that work.

Thanks

There are different types of CDs. If you burn as WAV or whatever file extension, you are burning a data CD that can be read by computers, but will be gibberish to a consumer CD player. You want to burn an audio CD. The files you burn from in this case must be 16-bit, 44.1kHz WAV files. The reason a computer shows the cda extension is that it's looking at the audio CD as if it were a data CD.

Alchuck's right...there are different types of CD's...it's either audio CD's or data CD's. Now I'm not sure how Nero is layed out but it should have the option of making an audio or data CD. If Nero doesn't then switch to Adaptec :D LOL Nero should have that option. But anyways, when making an audio CD you use .wav files. When the burning process is complete your CD should work in just about any CD Player (I've heard older ones have a problem with burned CD's but hopefully you don't have that problem).

OK, cool. Im just gonna recap here to ensure I understand. Ive seen the sample rate settings, and I do have it set to 16-bit, 44.1 kHz. So with this setting in place, I just save it as a *.wav file and it will be read by a consumer audio CD player? Correct?

Correct....however if you did not record in 16bit....convert it

Just to Clarify

You just have to tell Nero to burn an audio CD, and then point it to the .wav files in 16/44.1 format stored on your HD.

gbondo9.

They way you describe that that implies you are making a data CD. You must make an audio CD. The WAV files are the source. If they still have the extenstion WAV on the destination, that's a data CD.

To save from confusion you should check out the Help file with the Nero program on how to burn an audio CD. Or maybe there's people here who have Nero that can help. Wish I could but I know nothing about Nero, I use Adaptec.
