Hee hee...

Dear Brad in Texas,

Sounds like you burned your CD as a "data" CD. You need to burn it as an "audio" CD (there should be a selection for that in your burning program). That ought to solve your problem.

And make sure it's a single-session disc. Many older CD-ROM drives (and all audio CD players, I would assume) don't like multi-session discs.

Good luck!

cd wont do

thanks for the response, but no , i did it as audio, just tried it agian as a matter of fact. the little syntrilliim recording tasks says to make sure that "save extra non audio info checkbox is not checked, i cant find it anywhere.

i also, am not getting much input volume, i am coming in from a boss br 8 (awesome unit for the money) throught the line in.
can get a wav. file but weak on volume, all the volume thiings i find on the sound card are up and none are muted. any ideas.?

A WAV file on CD will NOT play in a CD Player...

Like it or not, you have burned it as data, not audio....

A simple test would be if you can play without problem on your computer's CD-RW drive, but not on a CD player.

Put the disk in your computer's CD Drive. Then open Windows Explorer and read the CD.

If it is an audio CD, the "files" should look like:
Track01.cda
Track02.cda
etc.

If instead it says:
rockandroll.wav
country.wav
then you have yourself a data CD.

The .wav files need to be converted to red book audio to be playable in CD players. Generally your burning program will make this conversion for you, as long as you burn an "audio" CD.

Also, in general CD-RW's will not work in most CD players (with some limited exceptions). Stick with the CD-R's.

Actually most CD players made in the last year or so can probably handle CD-RWs, so the "limited exceptions" are becoming less limited. The newest players even can play MP3 CDs (I'm not sure if it can play them off data CDs or if there's a newer format like the red book audio format but with MP3 data rather than WAV data.)

New Program

Try downloading Nero Burning Rom, it's much easier to use than most cd burning programs, and if you choose audio cd, it automatically converts mp3 and wav to cd format. This should make your burning process much easier. You can download the demo off cnet, and get a reg code off morpheus...i didn't say that.

one ofyou said check explore, i did, it says .cda but it wont play in the computer drive...... is there a place where you can control volume/input to the cd when burning it, i thought digital recorders automatically adjust for sound, my wav. is now very loud though.

nevertheless, i have a .cda that wont play on anything, computer or stereo system. any more ideas???? thanks y'all

Can you give us more information?

When you pop the CD into your computer, does anything happen? Does Media Player launch? What happens when you pop a store bought CD into your computer? Does it play OK?

If Media Player launches, do you see all the tracks in the right hand window? Does it appear to be playing but you don't hear anything (i.e., does it say "playing" at the bottom of the screen and you see the time counter moving?)

What specific program did you use to burn the CD?

Give us as much details as you can, and we'll see if we can figure it out.

BTW, I've never run across a "volume control" on CD burning programs. They should burn at the same volume as the .wav file.

Is it a CD-R or is it CD-RW? There is a difference... and as was pointed out, many players won't accept a CD-RW........

Did you finalize the CD??

Bruce

i find only lexus and high end alpine cd players will play a cd-rw. you might want to get yourself a copy of Easy cd creator. if i don't use it i use nero5.6 but it doesn't always work. sometimes its just 18tracks of noise, no music.

CD won't play???

On the bright side.....Burn 5 more exactly the same way...
...you'll have a nice set of coasters.

He probably means ther is no audio line connected to his burner

yeps, that'll be the problem, you have to connect the burner to your soundcard.

Not necessarily. If you use digital playback, you do not need a connection to your soundcard. Many later version "players" allow for digital playback from CD's - including Windows Media Player and Winamp. Check the options or preferences section of your player.
