R Robert D New member Jan 9, 2006 #2 A mixer insert is most often a 1/4" TRS jack that interupts the signal right after the preamp to send it to and return it from outboard processors. It can also be used as a direct send from the channel's preamp for recording. Go to Mackie.com. -RD
