Washy and....a little yuck....Cymbols...

Hi all
I am having a little issue with the sounds of the cymbols in my mix.
When I listen to just the drums, they sound how they should. When I listen to the entire mix, they sound a bit washy....(not sure if that's a technical term....).
Within the cymbol tracks, I have (within eq) cut everything from around 200k and down....I have brought up the eq around the 12 and 16kh range a little. Also added a little reverb.
Is there anything else I can do to help get the cymbols sounding a little more....real???

simplest way it try it. Keep what sounds best. The other thing, what cymbals are you using?

Also you say they sound fine when drums are soloed?
They might be clashing with something else in the mix... kinda sounds stupid but solo the drums then bring each instrument back into the mix and note when the cymbals sound washy, then try eqing that instrument diffrently.

note spelling on cymbAls. :p
