Has anyone around here had any experience with the Washburn WI64? It was apparently rated one of the best electrics under $1000 by Guitar Player Mag. It's got the Buzz Feiten system, a neat way of switching between pickups, and a lot of versatility. I'm about to order one because I'd rather get a new pretty guitar than outfit my current Squier. I've talked to 2 people on another board who own it, but I was just curious if anyone on these boards has played it.

Arjun, have you played this guitar?
I don't know,.. I'm kind of against buying a guitar without playing it first. (unless its a Carvin:D )

I would play one first too.

And just for the record.... I really value the input and reviews of people on this board, but I regard magazine reviews as utterly worthless.

ah yeah, I just played it yesterday at one of the local guitar shops... it's really nice :) i can't wait to get mine.

thanks for the input, i do agree about the magazine reviews, but in this case, it turns out that it really is an awesome guitar. the neck is really nice, great feel to it.

Funny, I just picked up one of these - although it is the WI66V. Thing is sweeeeet. Looks nice too - the quilted maple top is very thick.

I bought mine used off of a friend in Canada - he upgraded the pickups to a Tone Zone in the bridge and a Duncan 59 in the neck. Best part is I only paid $209 USD for it!

Hope you enjoy it.
