well I am currently recording digital... And the quality just don't stand out... What are some steps in mastering the whole thang. Cause the mix is perfect I can say so myself but the damn master copy sound like poopoo... what do I do to warm up the song these are the steps i am using..
1.Compress (waves rcl)
2.Eq
3.Stereo expand (waves plugin)
4.L1 Ultramaximixzer..

You say the mix is "perfect", then how can your end result sound like crap?? 
You'll need to be a bit more specific about exactly what you don't like about the sound before we can suggest improvements.

We're not roasting you - just need more info!
First off... take all the crap out of the signal chain (ie... pull out the plug-ins)...
Does the mix sound better?? If so, then you are misusing or misunderstanding how to use 1 or more of the plug-ins. Only throw something in the chain if it actually improves the sound... don't use them to "fix" anything.
Does the mix sound worse without the gunk in there?? Then is seems the mix itself is to blame and you should consider a remix. You don't mix with the idea that you can "fix it" with plug-ins in the post-production phase. Try for the best mix you can........ (It's the exact same thing during tracking - you don't track with the idea that you'll fix the sound in the mix later - get the sound right from the start! )

Are you tracking as hot as possible WITHOUT clipping?? In digital recording that's important. Bruce made some very good points...
Track clean, track hot and get it right early. The rest should be like a little polish on a new pair of shoes....

Im afraid its the sound card. You are severely limited using this
card.
For about $250 you can make a big jump in quality sound
by getting a card that is capable higher sampling and bit rates
and hotter operating levels +4dbu, balanced,better ad/da conversion...
card.

I heard the quality of the card should be good for a simple 16 bit.. The emu chip on the blaster is great, least that's what I heard.

You mentioned "mixing". I assume that you are multitracking.
The more the track count increases and I mean audio tracks
the worse it gonna sound. Im not talking midi tracks and using
sounds fonts.
But anyway, good luck!

I'm no pro, but one thing I've just acquired which adds mega warmth to my tracks is a BBE Sonic Maximizer. I use ZERO EQ. I over EQ'd in the past and it ruined some great tracks.
The BBE is phenomenal.

It is also REAL easy to ruin good tracks with the use of an Exciter or Sonic Maximizer type device...
EQ or Exciting is best used minimally and wisely.

A SB card is generally not known for it's "CD quality" like they would want you to think. The S/N ratio and potential dynamic range of it's converters is pretty poor. Also, couple this cards performance with the generally low performance of most digital mixing schemes, well, you have a turd at the end for sure!!!
I agree with Bruce's comment about the mix probably not being right if it sounds so bad after it is burned on CD. The only way one can subjectively compare a mix on their computer is if they rip some professionally recorded/mixed songs to the computer so that they may compare those to their own mixes. This is overlooked by many people. The SB cards D/A converters through your studio monitors WILL NOT sound the same as a home stereo will sound, so you have to get used to what good recorded material sounds like on your recording system.
I also agree that poorly used processing can make a mess of a mix!!! If you are having to rely on these processors to "fix" your mix then the mix is not very good. PERIOD!!! Overused compression, stereo expanding, eq, etc....will really mess things up in a hurry. I have also found that many of those really "cool" plug in's don't work so hot except with 24 bit files.
Anyway. Just my two pennies worth. Hell, what do I know?
