Well, thanks all for listening. Naka's version was more true to the original, and I just couldn't do that. It was beyond what I play like, so I just did it more in a C.O.C., meets Bongzilla kind of way. The hardest thing to me was, there are some really empty spots in the song, so nothing to hide my lack of real chops. That's why I chose to make it so dark, and weird. I might try and remix this to see if I can clean some stuff up.
Bubba, yeah with the quiet spots, the amp noise, and my sloppy playing really shine through.
Eck, I've been having a bit of difficulty mixing the lower end of this, as it seems to build up pretty fast. The version without vocals sounds really good in the drum department, but I need to clean some stuff up, as the drums seem to get buried when I put the vocals in.
Tim, thanks. I tried to play bass the way Geezer did, but some of his note choices were harder to transition to cleanly, and I ended up leaving big holes, so yesterday, I just redid it my way

I will try and fix some of the tones, to see if I can get the drums to have more space. They actually sat real well before I added the vocal, and I did try and eq the whole mix some, and probably over did that.
B. Sabbath, I think I recorded the bass too loudly, so it got muddy at times. And you're more than correct about some rough spots.
Anything with my vocals tends to be rough. And I had to play some different things, as trying to play the original version, I couldn't keep anything in time. I kept playing lines one time too many, and stopping short other times.
Thanks for the listen and advice.
Variaxman, the new equipment was a Sansamp bass DI, and a couple of Nady mics. I actually played the guitar part twice, but each time was mic'd with 2 different mics. One time, the 2 Nady mics, one on each speaker, then the next time,
my At 4040, and an MXL V93M. I just blended the 4 tracks into 2, and used some eq on them to try and get a somewhat vintage tone, yet not too thin.
Thanks for the listen.
Rami, thanks for the drums. I tried not to ruin them, yet wanted them to sound somewhat like the original, so eq'd them a bit, and added some verb.
Thanks again for the listen, and advice guys. Much appreciated.
