That's a tough one. I see eBay has some parts units for $99 - a bit much for a knob, but you may be able to salvage other parts to bring the cost down.

Not to be a smart ass, but as a DIY repair, I would try and see if a burner/oven knob off a stovetop might not push on or be slightly modified to do so. It would be crazy if it did fit - then at least you'd have a working knob.
That is a two their knob. The outside is the ff and rew and the face is the shuttle control that allows you to dial in an exact point on the tape. It isn't a knob as much as it is an encoder.
