I will describe my studio recording set up.

Home built computer:

Asus motherboard
1.7 Celenron chip
256 DDR Ram (going to upgrade to 512)
40 Gig Hard Drive (7200 RPMs)
AGP Video Card (not really significant)

M-Audio Mobile Pre USB sound interface preamp which is my sound

Home Amp to Yorkville Nearfeild Monitors (not the new budget ones)

Apex 435 wide condensor microphone

... I hear that the Soundblaster Audigy 2 and all of its upgraded versions are worth the money and good for music recording. I want some opinions here anything. What you think I should do.

Also, is AMD any good for studios or is Intell better. Don't talk about Mac, I can't afford it.

Thanks

I would go for a MAudio Delta card.

I've been using mine for years and it still works great and has had few problems.

...... I also think you should get a second hard drive. You can by them really cheap these days and it would improve your performance.

Soundblasters in general are to be avoided because they are semi-pro at best and less than that at worst. The card JoeNovice recommended would be a good one as would this...
