The V-Amp Pro I use is made specifically for direct recording so it has many different outputs for recording. Since you are using an actual amp, your only choice might be a headphone output. I would go ahead and give it a try.
That's what I'm doing now.. it's working.. but there's still this crackling when I record loud. That would mean the soundcard is the problem right?

GOODLAND:

Sounds excelent to me, well balanced frequencies, very "fat" bass, (but without "boominess") really "punchy mix"... and good final compression too (without lost of dinamics)...

Great!

(behringer works well too... :D )

whoa whoa whoa.... I listened to a recording I made.. on a different computer.. different speakers.. no crackle. ah ha.. it's my funky sound setup. I have one of those car stereo tape adapters running out of my speaker output on the comp.. then into my stereo.. with the tape playing. That must be a problem.

Now I know it's that simple problem, rather than a mic, pre, or card problem.

I'm going to have to thank the Waves L2 Limter, it's a freaking life saver when it comes to keeping your mixes dynamically in tact while keeping it's overall volume and power at a good level.

Cool, great job on figuring out the problem. When it comes to recording, experimenting is what to go.

Is Waves L2 that has to thank you for the good mix :D :D :D :D :D :D

In a "non balanced" mix , you can try all the mastering plug ins in the world, and probably never will sounds good.

Yeah, the L2 just helps keep it all under control.

I really want to put vocals on this song but I can't sing worth shit.
Maybe I'll get a friend to do it or something. I think it could us a rippin guitar solo too. I think I'll put one in there today.

i´m hearing again, GOODLAND ...

take a look in ~65hz ... maybe a cut of 3 or 4 db (large "Q") can help (and will still sounds fat).

yeah. I think just because of getting rid of that problem, I can make a lot better recordings now. because I had to avoid that buzz.. which meant I had to keep the volume down, and there were lots of limitations.. it's going to be so much better now. and the fact that I know how to record direct too. :)
