So, I record 4 audio tracks, add a couple of midi tracks, and then i want to mix it down....I cant figure it out!
There is an 'export audio' function, but of course, thats only for audio....HELP!!!

It sounds like you're going about it wrong. You want to mix your project down to an MP3 file, not export audio tracks. If you have MIDI tracks, they need to be recorded to audio tracks first.

The help system or manual should have a very clear description on how to do this. The Cakewalk website FAQ also has the procedures:

http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/faq.htm#28

Finally, which Cakewalk product are you using? If SONAR, did you upgrade from PA 9? If not, you have to pay extra for the MP3 converter. Or you can always mix down to a WAV file and use any WAV-to-MP3 encoder at all; there are some freeware ones available, I believe. Most WAV editors (CoolEdit, Sound Forge, etc.) have this capability too.

I use PA8....and I have Graceamp to encode a wave file to an MP3.
Thanx for the link....I will give it a try!!!!!!!

kewl!

Yes, it worked like a charm...took me a little bit tho, I am guess ing that on the recording level mixer, everything is muted except 'synth'....thats the only way it would work, and when I pressed record on CWPA8, the only thing i could monitor was the midi, but it recorded on the track i had designated, in audio....so, ya....thanx!!

I'm a bit confused here... if you mean the Windows mixer thingie, you can also mute tracks in Cakewalk... it's probably easier at that level.

... but it sounds like you got it working. Great!
