Hi guys. Here is a song I recorded last night. Four tracks but i think I am getting a little better at getting the settings right.

Its waltz, so perhaps a little different. I did something wierd with the guitar half way through plus I found an Andalucian Caja (a Jazz Box thing) which is so much fun!

Everything is one take and the guitar is a little out of tune at parts but I thinks its kindof cool.

Would you take a listen and tell me what you think?

Cheers

Erland

nice song...good singing....the effect on the vocals gives the sibilant sounds a bit too much of that essy sound..not sure how to express my self on this one, but I think you'll nkow what i'm talking about....
not much to comment on the mix...
nice work overall....
cheers

i like the weird thing you did with the guitar the best. you mean the bass sounding thing right?

sibiliance is pretty heavy on this. sounds a lot more like your older recordings than the stuff you've done lately. i miss the real reverb of the coffee shop.

oh, and great song as usual.

Hey, this is very good! Soundwise I agree with erichenryus on the sillibance. Bit too much high frequencies there. Perhaps you could you try to make the vocals sound a bit warmer? Eq & warmer type of reverb?

I like the 'bass' guitar on the right. I also like your voice! :)

I likey!

Hi Erland! Very nice as usual. Man I wish I could write like you! I don't know what a caja is, is that the percussive thing I'm hearing in the left channel? Pretty cool! I'd have to say your recordings are coming out better these days.

I don't know if this is poor form but, if you have a chance could you check out the cover I did of "From a Boy to a Girl"? It was for the clinic challenge last week. Here's a link to the thread. I'd love to hear your comments, but go easy on me!:D

I'm in Chicago at the moment, on a pathetic 21K connection ( ) but I will download this thing as soon as I get back to my smoking fast DSL... :p

P.S. Btw... Erland... I'm covering a tune of yours for the HR Challenge... hope you don't mind.. :D

I love a waltz...You have excellent vocals and the playing is great. I think this tune has an interesting meter to it and I liked the percussion in this.

:)

brilliant

Hola. Nice, thanks guys for checking it out. Excuse my dislexia - Walting. Yeehaa

Roker1. Hey man. good of you to give a spin. A poor take and too much reverb for sure. Cheers.

erichenryus. Hey man, nice. Well me too, it seemed to fit well. I just can`t ever get these sounds right for you. I think the guitar sounds better than before and the vocal is too low. Is siblance too much s. The reverb on my four track does this. I thought anout using the laptop to record becasxue I have a demo of cool edit or something. I do much prefer using my wee box, apart from the reverb. Cheers.

Pedullist. Nicey, glad you likey. Cheers for the nice words. I dont have any other reverbs and I have no EQ. This is a little problem for me becasue all I can control is the gain and the room I am in and how close I am to the guitar. That guitar riff I like the best. It makes the song less dull.

twist. Wow you covered a song of MINE! what a compliment. Downloading now. Cheers for the good vibes on this one and I am feeling more confident with the songs too. A caja is a box (like a Jazz box) here in Spain. Real neat and real loud. Later

WATYF. Hey there. Yes I mind, bastard. (sarcasm OK). What song by the way. Look farward to it.

boydrj. Great stuff. Cheers. Yeh the percussion really makes the song move. I am starting to use more and more, what ever I can find. I glad it interested you. Nice

Thanks again for Listening

Erland

Always excellent to hear you sing (and play) Erland-Your perfromance is excellent as always-I just gotta agree with the others about the voice sounding a little thin and sibilant-your voice deserves better!!-Cool second guitar doing the bass riffs. Ya sounds like your high e was a touch flat--no biggie.

dude... I dig that phat acoustic guitar on the right.. that is freaking sweet... but dang it! I just spent umpteen hours trying to remix some gits, and I was all thinkin' that they were sounding decent... and then you come along and post a sweet guitar tone like this and make my stuff sound like crap... (I hate you  )

;) :D

and I don't wanna say which song I'm gonna cover... suffice it to say that it isn't gonna be the song everyone thinks it will.... :p

groovy recording man...

groovy

Stratomaster. Always good to know your listening man. I seriously think that is just my voice that sounds like that, I aint that good mate. Anyway, that high E for sure is out, kidof survives though. I just did another song, I think you might like it. Later

WATYF. hey man. phat, nice! did you like the box too, kindof like a snare drum. I had a party on friday and some spanish dude left this BOX, its a drum thing but its loud. Have any thing for me to listen to. I always liked your guitar tones mate. Thanks again.

Bump and Starz:D

...I liked this alot. The delicate guitar sound works well with your voice here.Bass(or low giutar track) a little left chan heavy(or right).Decent mix....

Erland,

I forgot the model for your Boss recorder, but it's so nice that you can travel around and record! my buddy just came back from Spain studying classical guitar, god, wish I could go there one day, too!

Hey, really dig the git riff. It's cool to see you adding more instruments in your tunes, simple, yet, effective.

How do you get your songs into computers?

AL

So we meet again Mr Erland :)

Sorry I haven't been around much, too ka break from music for a bit...

Wonderful song as always, exclelent and passioinate vocals (I gotta get you on some boogiemen stuff :p ). Like the funky low-E second guitar. Recording quality's there too, not that the prior recordings weren't respectable, but this sounded almost professional.

Keep postiung those tunes!

Real nice tune!
Well executed and recorded. Liked the bass off to the side. strong vocals...... interesting rythmic counterpoint ......lydian (#4) in melody nicely resolved.......could use some de-essing......warm guitar!

Keep em coming.
Peace,
flat-9

W.I.S.C.. Hi there, thanks so much for checking it out. Its really simple as always. Great stuff, bthanks WISC

A1A2. Hey there mate. Yup international student life is the best! I live in Cadiz right now in a great apartment on the beach. This is as close to Morrocco as you can be. Sand, sea, sun, sangria, and all other things beguining with S. I use my Boss BR532 and the condesor mic in a wee rucksack. Great to travel with. I am here until June, I am lucky indeed. I have my laptop too, its great I now walk into this small interet shop and plug it in, I can then upload.

I have been trying to upload a new song for three days though. Is something wrong with nowhere radio. I think you will like this one. Later

Pinky. Great to see you! wow what an amaing thing to say. Made my day man. I cant upload my new stuff for some reason?

flat-9. Hi there, you know your stuff. great to know you listened to it. Thanks. I hope you litke the next one.
