VTB1 vs. DMP3 for recording male vocals. What yall think?

VTB-1. Without a doubt. Not only does it have a lot more features, but you can adjust the tube settings, and it is almost $100 cheaper. Chances are you wont even hear a significant difference unless you are very experienced with studio gear. Only reason you should get the DMP3 is if you need two channels. If not, get the VTB-1, you won't regret it. I own a VTB-1 by the way, and can say it was one of the wisest purchases I made in my studio.

Keep in mind that the DMP3 is two channels and the VTB-1 is a single channel when comparing pricing.

I think you're choosing between 2 channels of nothing but clean, vs 1 channel of clean or dial in some "color". So evaluate your needs based on those differences. I think they're both good units and good value. Are you going to do any stereo micing? If so, then the question becomes "DMP-3 or two VTB1s?"

You mean dial in some dirt/mud?
.

Thus the quotation marks. But, you know, one man's mud is another man's color, even if it is greyish brown. ;)
