why is my vst inputs showing up blank in cubase sx3? when i hit record my voclas r not being picked up by cubase sx3 amd i've already recorded on this version?, but now for some reason its not pickin up my vocals. when i hit record, everything else is happening except for the for my vocals being recorded?

What soundcard/interface are you using? VST inputs selects the inputs from your soundcard/interface, so either your inputs are not activated, and/or cubase is not recognizing your soundcard.

i'm using emu 0404...the thing is has already recognized the soundcard, bucuase i've recorded already on my cubase sx3...its like i open the project and decides it doesnt wanna read it at that moment

Then, you may not have it set up as your default card within cubase. Go to the Device Setup and make sure the emu is selected and the proper driver is loaded.

Also, I've found that with multi-input soundcards, my version of cubase doesn't always have all the inputs activated when I start up -- so, I have to go to VST inputs to activate them before recording.

ok, under VST inputs its blank, shoud it be?

No, that's why you aren't getting any sound. You have to have an input selected and have that input routed to the recording channel/track in order to record. Obviously, Cubase isn't "seeing" your soundcard. Go to the Devices menu, as I stated above and select your soundcard. The Manual/Getting Started Guide in the Help menu should guide you through this.

For some reason when ever i start a new project i need to add an input bus and then map it to anything beyond the first two inputs of my card. The first two always work fine by default, but for the other 5 I need to add the input bus for it.

Once you have it set up, save the I/O configuration. Then you just have to go and pick your preset. If most of your projects are the same, save one as a template. That way, you don't have to spend hours on end configuring everything.
