VST connections cubase sx3

when i start a new song/project in cubase will I always have to set up the inputs from my mixer (alesis) in the VST Connections section. can i save them so i dont have to keep re-naming the connections etc.....??????

All you have to do is go "FILE"> SAVE TEMPLATE AS, and then name the template so every time you start a new project you can pick that one and all of your I/O's will be set up, that is after you set up the initial project.
 
Or, if you go to the Devices(?)>VST Connections, you should be able to make your own input routing up as well. You should have a pop-up screen that shows the different inputs and the correlating mixer outputs. You can go in and add/delete different setups untill you find a certain one that is right for you.

seems to me there's a way to do this under file/preferences as well..
