VST compatibility

I've never worked with VSTs. I use mainly Ableton Live with Reason rewired and some hardware.
Is the ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS 2 XT from NI compatible with Reason and Live? Are there some issues that I should think about before buying it?
Maybe someone knows the difference with the new product Operator from Ableton. I'm having a hard time getting how this softs work...

oh and by the way ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENTS 2 XT is a good soft for forging sounds or did i get that wrong?!

it will work fine in live. the 2 xt is a reaktor based synth package (analog modelng) so it considerably different than operator, which is based on FM synthesis (Ala Yamaha DX-7)
