I am using the SBLive and a microphone. I start to do a soundcheck for my level into cubase. I then have about a 1 sec. delay. I speak into the microphone, then I hear it out of the monitors. I have the default sblive audio setup in the audio system of cubase. Any suggestions?

In cubase;
Options/Audio Setup/System......Under Monitoring; put the radio button on global disable.

This will stop Cubase from routing the input through the outs causing the latency to be audible. You should still get a direct monitor through the card with no latency at all. If not check the settings for the card through the speaker icon on you task bar.

Hey I've just posted the number of the beast!! :eek:

Okay, yet another problem with latency. I recorded a scratch guitar track with the click on in cubase. I am using the sblive and an sm57. After that I record a bass track while listening to the scratch track and the click. Everything went fine there. I go ahead and try to record a guitar track while listening to the bass and scratch tracks. Everything seems fine while I'm recording, but when I playback the guitar I just recorded it sounds like its a half a second off. I know my timings not that bad.

Sounds like your HDD isn't coping with the I/O load your putting on it.

Try this,
Start/settings/control panel>System>Device Manager/Disk Drives.
Select the 1st drive by double clicking then look at the Settings tab. Is the DMA box ticked? If not do it and do the same to all your HDD in the device manager. Ok out of there and reboot, end of problem :)

If DMA was allready ticked, run the Multimedia set up in the cubase program group. Use the advanced options and load the Soundblaster compatible Full Duplex option in the presets pop-down box. Ok out of there and try again.

This won't fix the one that's allready out of sync but should stop any new takes from drifting.

Let me know how you go :)

I tried your first suggestion and found that the DMA was not on, so I clicked that on. I went into Cubase and did another take of the guitar that was off, and everything was fine. I was happy. Then, I did another recording of a second guitar and the same thing happened as before. So, I tried another approach. I restarted cubase, and found that everything was fine again. It seems as if whenever I try to record on a different channel as before it does this. So, is the solution to this problem to restart after I am happy with my track I am tring to create? There has to be another way. Thanks for your input and time!
