I have the VS840GX.
I installed a scsi card in it.
Bought an external zip drive but it quite. I returned it. I didn't get another external zip drive cuz I didn't know how to get my recording from the external zip to my computer to burn them to disk.

What's the best way to get my recordings from the GX to the burner on my computer? I guess is the best question.
What hardware would you recommend. Do I need a scsi card in my computer? I'm guessing I'll need one of those.
I got the bucks, just not the know how, nor the Roland book on how to do this.

The EX book, which is what was given me when I bought the GX say nothing about going beyond the external scsi drives.

I also have Sonar if that matters. Some of my songs I'd like to use Sonar on, but I want to record everything through all my hardware first. Preamp, drum machine, mixer, etc.

I'm really ignorant about this.

If this matters,
812 MHz
Pent lll
128 MB ram

Thanks for any help.

What matters...

...is probably the soundcard in your computer. There's no way to do anything with your scsi besides back up your Zip --> to a scsi Zip drive. Hwever, I believe you can do the Wav. conversion to a scsi Zip drive, and then load that stereo pair inti the computer, via whatever Zip drive is in your computer. I guess that's what the GX .wav conversion is all about.

Does any of that make sense?

Otherwise, you'll have to use the digital out on your VS, and run that into the digital in on your soundcard.

Or, do like me, and get a standalone burner.

Oh, ok. I didn't think of that.
I have a Delta 66 sound card.
I can run the line from the GX to the sound card. ~ Whacks my head ~
Man, that's just to durn simple.
Thanks a bunch Wawazzat. I try it.

VS840EX to a computer??

Did you get this to work? I have a VS-840EX and want to send the info to my PC and use my PC's CDRW. What program did you send it to? How did you direct the info to the appropirate folder for burning?

Thanks!

Well-

Well-

If you have an EX, with the 250 Zip, you'll need a little utility program, something designed by aftermarket guys, Roland doesn't provide it.

I use a standalone burner, so I don't have it.

You can possibly find it here.

There are a few sites around where you might be able to find information specific to the VS840. email me if you need more.
