Can anyone help?
I've got some good results with recording but could do with some ideas on how to get that finished product sound. When you mix down it worth g eq the whole track? Is it good to compress the whole track? Is it worth adding reverb to whole track?

Any ideas please
Cheers

What to do....

I like to use "Stereo Multi" effect to apply reverb to the entire mix. I'm not too impressed with the compressors in the VS-840, so if you have an outboard compressor, you can use that, but go sparingly. A little goes a long way.

It's usually necessary to EQ each individual track at mixdown, in order to separate the instruments in the stereo field....you know, shelf cuts of -12 dB on guitars below 80 Hz, to avoid the bass guitar frequencies and stuff like that. However, panning the tracks is just as important as effects in that regard.

Overall, use anything that sounds good to you, it's your music.

normally, I eq each individual track as well. I don't like to mess with it too much though. I usally like to try a few different panning options until i find something i like. I don't normally add an effect to the whole song. maybe just a little reverb to the vocal. I try to get the tracking as close to what i want as possible so I don't have to do much at mixdown. I usually have a buddy run it through his computer for post production stuff.

hey Wawa, fancy seein you round here...
