I am using the VS-2480 and have got a little (BIG) problem. I was coping a file yesturday and it locked up during that operation. So, I turned off the system to reboot and try agian. However, ever since that it has created a porject that it will not let me out of. I have tried to erase it, creat a new file, go to another drive everything I can think of to get out of it. But, I am still at the same problem. What makes things worst is that I was just about to back up the drive and do a formatt and load in my new software. So, I have things on it that I can't replace without flying people from TN to rerecord. NOT A GOOD THING... If someone has a thought I would be so greatful.

Or should I call Roland on Monday morning....

Force Init

Your problem is that you need to reinitialize your system. You can do this by holding down the both track status buttons for channel 4, while you turn the unit on. This however will erase anything you have in the harddrives. It is a bummer. The only other option that you have is to send it in to Roland, and they can retrieve it for you. But i warn you it is a lengthy process. Basically you can force it to initialize...unfortunately i am speaking from experience. I accidently turned off the unit before getting out of a project, and shutting down. Hope this helps you a little. Later

Analytical Man,

Thanks for the info. I did however have some great success with Roland. I was able to send the drive for them to repair the disc and not loose any projects....

Roland Techs are the best :)

That's interesting to know. I wonder if Roland has a big room full of guys doing the same operation to many hard drives a day...? I'm surprised something like that would happen in the first place, unless the drive was going bad.

I've also had good experiences with Roland techs. The long distance phone bills suck, but they do have a fax line, and will call on their dime.

The long distance bills could be taken care of with a cell phone that has free long distance....
