I have been working on a vs 1880. i did not purchase it (my bass player did), and with it he was sold on a pair of octava mc 012's. I have accepted the fact that the sales person(who shall remain nameless...and is no "ANGEL") just wanted to sell the "schlock" he had in stock. now i have to deal with these little-assed diaphrams as overheads. I tried the mic simulators on the vs but they sound like shit. can anyone out there recomend a decent pair of large diaphram overheads? I originally wanted a pair of Audio Technica (i have since forgotten the models i requested). so far i really like the Event NT1's that my buddy uses with his pro tools system. Hitman.

Yes the mic sims do need to be tweaked.......otherwise,they sound like a Radio Shack lapel mic through an SVT bass stack.Way too much thump,a big hump in the low mids.Do you have good monitors? Try the Rode mics,like the NT1 with a decent preamp.
