Oh....

Swervedriver - Duress

Too many people missed that band. A huge shame.

Fucking great. One of my favorite lp's of all time, but I wouldn't have ever thought someone would mention it in this thread. As long as we're "going there", I'll take The Jesus Lizard's "Goat" LP.

And if we continue to "go there", check out Deceit by This Heat. Fucking unbelievable.

I'm just going to have to go with Radiohead "Subterranean Homesick Alien," or maybe "No Surprises," both from OK Computer. Nigel Godrich can do things with a console that blow my mind.

Ramones, "Questioningly", so sad and sappy and great, the tamborine cuts through the mix like an ex girlfriend's voice cuts through your heart.

That is a fucking great record, but i always thought the production was a bit "major label".

How about Secret Name by Low? Albini production at its finest.

Anything off of OK Computer, particularly "Airbag" and "Paranoid Android"

Pretty much everything off of Jeff Buckley's "Grace", particularly "Grace", "Last Goodbye", "Lilac Wine", and "Hallelujah". (Andy Wallace)

May seem silly, but if anyone hasn't mentioned it, I'll throw in any 70's Parliament. There's an awful lot of playing going on and it's mixed perfectly.

Okay, I'm a teenager, who also into production.. so these are the cd's that are... to the ways my ears have developed the best sounding. Mainly because all of these have been given a "commercial" type of sound, but still managed to retain alot of intensity in the songs.

Silence - Blindside
fundemental elements of southtown - Payable on death
The used - The used
absoloution - Muse

Anything off of the Story of the Year cd. Drum sounds are amazing.
Green Day's new cd is mixed awesome!
Beatles Abbey Road is as good as it gets.

Haven't listened to Steely Dan yet, but you can be sure I'm going to get it. Didn't they have a song out a long time ago called "You are the magnet"?

A fine record. The last 3 minutes of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is perhaps my favourite piece of music ever, and from a mixing point of view, the way the white noise grows from underneath the riff is genius. The guitars sound perfect, the low end is just spot on. Also the keyboard notes just swelling every now and then. Awesome.

Ok, I take back my other selections, because I'm listening to Wilco's Being There and "I Got You (At the End of the Century)" is the best-sounding song I've ever heard in my life. Holy shit.

Quick reply:...

All Ramones albums. (I'm surprised it took til page 5 to have the Ramones mentioned).

All Beatles albums. (Pretty much set the standard from very early on).

i'm gunna have to stay with my roots on this one and say Avenged Sevenfold - I Won't See You Tonight Part 1... it's the most beautiful metal i've ever heard and it makes me tingle :)

My vote for the best mixed song of all time is Bob Dylan's 'like a rolling stone'
Also, anything mixed by Brendan Obrien (Pearl Jam's Vs and Vitalogy, Incubus's latest album, Rage Against the Machine) will be outstanding. I watched a specrum analyzer with some of his work and every single band along the spectrum is just as active as the next ... it's quite amazing
