Volume on burning CD

Hey Guys, I'm using Sonar and we recorded a couple songs. All my meters indicate I have full volume. I then play the song back using windows MP and all sounds ok, no breakups or anything like that. I'm using click and burn pro to burn my CD. Where does the CD burner get the volume from? It seems like the volume should be up more on the CD because when I play it back on a different system(s) you have to turn the volume up. Any Ideas?
Thanks,

CD burner gets it volume from the .wav file source.

To get your CD to "commercial" level volumes, you will need to use compression or limiting (or both) on the stereo wave file. The best I have found is the Waves L1 Ultramaximer (I understand the Waves L2 is also great, but I haven't used it yet).

Something that's decent and a little less expensive is the Wave Hammer that comes with Sound Forge.

If you plan on having your material professionally mastered at some point, I wouldn't worry too much about the volume at this time, as it will be taken care of with the mastering. In the meantime you can just turn up the volume knob. :)

Thats cool, it works for me. Dechay, I really need some info about the post I've put up about the dude that wants to copyrite the words to a song that I wrote all the music to. Who would be the best to talk to about this situation. I don't want to loose my songs, just because he put down some lyrics. Anyone can put down lyrics when they have the music to go by. Now he wants to copyrite his lyrics, prob. my music to since he has a Cd. Help

Acidrock, do you really want me to read all that now? It's sunday afternoon and I've been drinkin' all day. Been recording all day also. Now we have three songs and he thinks there all his. This I can't stand..... What should I do????????? Help Me.....

NO.1
If you have professional aspirations don't collaborate unless you have an agreement beforehand,it's a little late to close the barn door when all the animals have already split.
NO.2
Imho unless you wrote the melody the backing music is just that, words and melody make the song, chords and rhythmns are public domain.
NO.3
If you're going to drink all day you could at least invite your fellow forumites over for one or two or.....

Well, you were all invited if you wanted to. So you're sayin I just lost two songs, just because he wrote the words? Shouldn't I be able to copywrite my music before he copywrites the words? There's no way these words would soung good with another song. "I don'tthink"...

I had exactly same problem here... it goes since 1996. I've written the music all over the notes. I even played 'em all. The rhytm, drums, piano, bass, guitar, keyboards, etc. (It was the days of Cakewalk Pro 4...) I even record it in my own studio. My indie label, and I'm the producer here. BUT... my very close friend helped me wrote the lyric because he got some good story to be put there. Yeah, I must admit it was good story. So we made it. The guitar line was the MOST BEAUTIFULLEST guitar interlude I've ever played. IMHO, like the one Slash did on "November Rain". The reason I produced the song is because the guitar line is so amazing. Every my friends told me so. Then, in couple weeks, my friend here claimed that he got the copyright for the song. WHAT...? I wasn't into copyright things before, so I never care untill he claimed for the royalties. No, it wasn't that much he wanted, just a few percent of the total profit. But, knowing that even my best friends crossing me step ahead is anoying me.
My friend here, he died last monday. I'm very sorry for that. And his family gave all the "musical things" he got to me. His Bass guitar, his working sheet of poet, even his home tape recording. Also the copyright sheet. I have it all now. I never asked, but nobody in his family knows what to do with those, that's why they gave to me. The lesson he gave to me is I must realize that music business needs more attention when you get to the industry... You never realize the pursuit of what you had untill you loose it... Thank's my friend, may God puts you in peace...

It's all yours now my friend... all yours within my heart.

James... I'm the guy who helped you with your SP-100 recently. Remember this place is about support and being with people when they feel not so good about things.... I'm right there with you!

James - In the end, just let it be about the love of music. If it was about the money or the rest of the bullshit, we all could just keep our day jobs.

You are a good person to have forgiven your friend.

Thank's lot guys... I really apreciate your helps.
