Not sure if I'm supposed to post this here or what, but I can't think of anything more basic and newbie than what I need help with, so I'm assuming here's fine. Basically I just want to know how I can balance out the volume of all the tracks for a mixtape I'm making. Some of the softer tracks are noticeably quiter than the rest and it really ruins the mix. I'm absolutely clueless, as you might have guessed, and was wondering if there was a program or something I could get, drag and drop 20-odd tracks into and have it balance the volume on them for me.

Cheers.

What program are you currently using? How did you record the tracks you have?

Oh sorry, I don't think I made it clear. I'm making a mix tape, the songs aren't my own, I didn't record them. They're just MP3s. I'm not using any program at the moment, but I have Audacity and Cubase 5, if either of those can do it for me.

Audacity should work well. I'd just import the track into audacity, go the Effect/Amplify and hit the enter key. See if that works for you.
