Vocoder question

Will a Heil Talk box and vocoder produce the same type of sound? I am making the assumption the vocoder is likely to be more functional, due to the fact the vocoder was apart of my DSP-1000pro (I just haven't quite figured out how to use it, yet!)

A vocoder is just a device that uses a voice as a synth trigger or controller. So yes it is the same thing.
