Captain Sea Boots
I am looking for that vocoder sound that you hear on a lot of Daft Punk tracks. Or a program that has a computer voice that reads what you type (like on Fitter Happier). I haven't had luck with mda vocoder. This is strictly for studio use. Any tips on a free or cheap plug-in that will do the trick?

SayIt! by AnalogX (www.analogx.com) is a nice little text-to-speech freebie that lets you type in your text and adjust several parameters like speed and modulation. Preview it as you want while you adjust the parameters, and when you have what you want, press the "render" button to render the voice to WAV file to use in your mix as you please. This works pretty well for a "Forbin Project" type of voice.

They also have a Vocoder utility that works similarly, but it takes a vocal file and combines it with a sample of an instrument file and combines the two to mkae an instrument vocoder. (I haven't tried this one myself, but for free it's worth a shot.)

vokator from native instruments (not the cheapest but one of the best)

After a lot of feedback on another forum, I looked into mda talkbox. This did EXACTLY what I was looking for when I combined my voice with a synth1 trumpet synth sound.
