Vocals sound different on headphones and various speakers

I'm relatively new to recording, I've been using a pretty decent mic and beats studio headphones on cooledit pro to record rap songs. I'm running into this problem with all of my songs - after i finish the mixing and get my .mp3, it sounds much different on different equipment.

The vocals are the right volume on my headphones and speakers, but on mac laptop speakers the vocals are way softer and behind the beat. On Iphone speakers you can't hear the vocals at all, and many other people have told me that the vocals are way softer on their speakers.

Is there any way to solve this problem without getting new equipment?

There's no easy way.

When you mix with headphones, the vocals often sound louder than when you mix on speakers.

Most computer speakers do not give an accurate enough representation of the music to achieve good mixes.

What it means for you is a lot of trial and error.

You can reduce the amount of trial and error by listening closely through your speakers to tracks that you think are good, listening particularly for comparative levels of vocals and music, then trying to get something like that with your own stuff.

Then do what you've been doing . . . trying the results on a whole heap of different systems to see how it's translating on them.

The reason why studios spend heaps on monitors and acoustic treatment is so that they can produce a mix that is an accurate representation of the music, and thus has a reasonable chance of sounding ok on all the different systems it's likely to be played on.
