Hi All!

I'm setting up to record vocals (spoken word-audiobooks) only in my home and was wondering what the best, or most recommended, program(s) might be for the job.

I'll need recording (I know, duh), both destructive and non-destructive wave editing capabilities for patching and cutting bits and pieces here and there as well as some post-production tweaking to even out chapters since they won't all be recorded at the same time.

Recs?

Thanks for your help and your time!

Sounds like your needs are similar to mine. I'm just experimenting with spoken word recordings and I've invested in the Audio Technica AT2020 microphone, boom stand and pop filter. I'm using Adobe Audition for recording but also just downloaded the free program Audacity and am giving that a try as well. If you haven't invested in software it might be a good start - and the money you save could be invested in a good microphone. I haven't purchased a computer interface yet as I am able to use my Zoom H4n recorder for that purpose.

Another option would the the AT2020 usb which removes the need for an interface.
