vocals in the air tonight

I'm kinda looking for the effect on the vocals off in the air tonight by P.C.

It's something with a slapback delay. But it's more then that. Anyone ideas?

I don't know so much about effects but I know Phil Collins uses a Beyer 88 dynamic (yes, even in the studio).

It may give you a few pointers (but I'm guessing the SSL console and French Chateau maybe a bit outside of your average home recor's budget ).

Great article! Not bringing me much closer to the answer of my question, but still really interesting stuff! Funny that he uses the dynamic beyer88 mic. Maybe I'll experiment with dynamic/condensor combinations.
