For a grand total of about 500$, what could I purchase to achieve the following: I want to lay down vocal tracks into Cakewalk PRO 8 as completion of a sequenced piece of music that was produced on my Kurzweil workstation.
I would like a very good large diaphragm mic and a pre-amp. My other question was....when, and at what step/which equipment, do most folks perform EQ/FX/VERBS and how is it done/when is it done/how should it really be done? Thanks niblits, ROB

The Mic/Pre thing has been covered often in the Mic and Rack forums.

Mics: Marshall V67, SP C1, AT 4033, Rode NT1000.

Mic Pre: ART Tube MP, Joemeek VC3, Meek VC6, DBX mini pre, DBX 286.

My choice would be the V67 mic ($150)--because Harvey Gerst and Gidge like it--and the Meek VC6Q pre ($350)--because I like it--and because it also has compression, eq, and is good as an instrument direct box.

Guitar Center is blowing out the Joe Meek VC3Q for $99.....i second the Marshall MXLv67, but i think they are up to $169...that would leave $230.....

what will you be recording to?....that may be something that needs addressing with the extra money....
