I keep seeing posts like this
sing EQ and stereo positioning, one carves out "space" for the vocals, making sure that no instrument is playing in the same frequency range and stereo image position. Judicious use of reverb allows you to also move an audio source forward or backward in the image

With the vocal remover softwares or ones in mixers are a joke. With sonar3 I have made a few attempts to remove vocals using the eqs and still eliminated alot of music.. Is there any way to improve? Or how would you go about it?

You can't remove vocals once they are mixed with the rest of the music.

What you are reading is instruction on how to get vocals to sit in a mix, not how to take them out.

Music with vocals that have reverb in the master mix, have double tracking, have instruments in or near centre in the mix etc will produce horrendous results when you try to use a "vocal remover".
It could work if the vocals were at the centre & everything else hard panned with not reverb etc etc etc.
In reality it doesn't. the people who sell the stuff know it doesn't but assume purchasers aren't savvy enough to hear the problem or care.
