Hi everybody !
I want to make a vocal recording of many people (a gospel group) and I found a big problem : they have to sing with a recorded playback and as I can't give one headphone for every singer, the playback music is heared from one speaker louder enough. So the playback music is also recorded into the vocal track. I'm not a professional and this may seam very basic for other preople. If someone have any idea ...

Use the search function and put in "choir".....there were several threads pertaining to this and I think youll find them useful.....questions from "which mic?" to "how to set them" have been discussed....

Something you can try is this If your music play back is coming from a stereo playback system, reverse the polarity on one of the speakers (just put the positive lead on the negative terminal and vise versa). Position both speakers right next to each other and a cardiod microphone well out in front of the speakers pointed towards your group to be recorded. The idea here is that the playback speakers are out of phase and allthough you'll hear the playback, the mic will pick up the two speaker signals out of phase and they should cancel each other out. It won't remove the music 100% but it should help. :D
