Hi,

I understand that recording vocal is very up to individual but i need to get some advice on vocal effect/EQ to be use recording sentimental songs. I have tried many different effects but it seems that is still far different from the professional musics i listen. I don't expect 100% same as the professional but at least close. Any advice?

The best mic into the best preamp you have or can rent or borrow.

No EQ.

Light to medium compression to taste, usually somewhere in the 2:1 - 4:1 range with a threshold at about half your crest factor. A good external compressor is best, but if all you have is a plug, that'll have to do. One that emulates a UAD LA-2A would be a good starting point.

Get the vocalist to work the mic properly;no swallowing the mic and varying distance with loudness.

Don't be afraid to ask for plenty of takes and punch-ins, patching things together in post The number of vocalists that frequent your average home studio that can make it more than a line or two with perfection can be counted on one hand.

That sounds like the LA2A like I sound like Celine Dion...
