Vocal Playback Issue

Hey guys, I was hoping I could receive a little help with an issue I am having. I just purchased the M-Audio Nova, and when I record, my vocals only show up in the lower half of the waveform display, and playback only comes through my right speaker/headphone. Is this a microphone issue, or something that can be resolved in CEP? Thank you in advance for your consideration and help.

Nothing wrong, rookie mistake.

You are recording a mono input, but recording in stereo. I'm not familar with cool edit, but somewhere you can tell it to record mono. Problem solved.

Now lay down some cool tracks and make us proud, not like us has beens living vicariously through the forums.

Maybe it's your connection. It looks like you have connected your microphone into the "Right" input of your soundcard. Try to connect it into the "Left" input which will set itself automatically as a mono input but will record in stereo twice the same track in "Left/Right".
