One thing to keep in mind is that, regardless of the price level, some mics are good on a particular voice, and some are just wrong. It can be a $1000 mic, and still be wrong for your voice, and a $100 mic might sound better. So, if at all possible, try to either audition some mics and find out what sounds good on your voice in your price range, or at least do a lot of reading through the various budget mic threads and reviews, and try to make an educated guess on which mic to get, based on what others have said about that mic's characteristics. For instance, some mics are hyped in the upper mids, and won't sit well with a high resonant voice, while some mics are "warm" or "dark", and end up just muddy or dull on a deeper, less resonant voice.
Good luck.
