Okay...I am gonna venture out and buy a new vocal mic...any suggestions...not looking for a budget studio mic, I want something just for vocals, that is thick and warm, but I don't have the funds to spend more than around 500 bucks. I have a thick tenor voice, and need something to accurately reproduce the thickness and warmth in my voice....no I don't want an NT-1 and I already have an AT 4033....any suggestions would help tremendously...

AKG 414 great choice...Hears a mic that might work out also,
Shure KSM 32...A little over 500.00..Also a cool dynamic
for the type of voice that you decribe that is worth looking into...Sennheiser 421 great mic also

sub 500

I don't remember where, but a company (more than likely musiciansfriend.com) had a specail on the ksm32 for $475

but you can't go wrong with a c414. I also have a thick tenor voice/lyric baritone and I love the c414. Got it used though for sub 500

and if

if you really want absolutely the best vocal sound, I think the Neumann TLM 103 is the choice. But it costs $900

Also, dont skimp on high quality cables, they make a noticeable difference/ improvement.

I will second the TLM 103, I have one and love it. I find it sounds best with a midrange to low male voice, but I don't like the sound of it on a female voice but thats just my opinion.

Thanks Guys...I need warmth

Thanks a bunch for the suggestions, I will look into the 414, yeah...i can't afford the TLM, but if I could, I would get it. I am using a digital mixer and a digital hard disk recorder, and I need to make up for the loss of warmth somewhere, any suggestions...currently using an ART Tube MP, and it isn't doing the trick on vocals, great on guitar though...again thanks for all the input.

That will warm it up in a hurry. The JoeMeek line of preamps is known for its signature sound and warmth, that should fatten up that sound in a hurry. A used VC3Q would work wonders for you.
