I suppose the reason I believe the NT1000 sounds good with my voice because my voice is more on the darker side. This mic is very sensitive and picks up new-annces that the CAD M177 does not pick. I do believe it has a great capsule but yes, it does have hyped out highs which is probably why I don't think it records amps and acoustics well. I like the detail it captures in my voice though. Simbilence is easy for me to fix so thats not a problem. If it weren't for the hyped high end I think this could have been a really great mic on the cheap.

The CAD m179 is a very nice mic for $180, If you liked the Rode, an NTK would really be a good one to check out. I like it on some voices, even mine but only on certain kinds of vocals. The SP c3 is a mic I've been using a lot lately, that and my Groove Tube MD 1b
