Vocal Mic $1000 Budget, what to buy?!?!

I've seen a few people reference the 4047.....which is one of my go to vocal mics. I also use a KSM32....which is a very clean mic.....but as someone else has indicated it is so transparent that it can be too good for a weak vocalist....although it can work very well with a good vocal.

Before I spent $1,000 on a mic (there are soooo many very good mics in the $400-$600 range) I would also look at my signal path. You don't mention what pres you use.....but a $1000 (or even $600 mic will be less effective is the pres are not decent.

I've been getting very good results with my Rode NTK and Presonus Eureka preamp. You could get both new for around a grand and much less is you go used.

Like many others have said, there are many good mics in that price range but I'd also factor in a decent preamp.

Used you might be able to swing an AT 4047 and a Great River ME1V for arround $1000...that might be the best sound you can possibly get until the 3k price range
