Hi, i want to add reverb to my vocal tracks from a dynamic mic, before it is recorded. Can anyone suggest a CHEAP effects box that I can just plug in in series, pre-mixer? Would I need a pre-amp or anythin with it?
Thanks

You will need a mic pre before you do anything with your signal.
I would look into finding a used Boss SE-50 on eBay for your effects.

Personally, the ONLY convincing argument for adding effects when tracking I have heard is the case where the desired effects are part of the outboard that is being recorded, such as a tube guitar/amp, etc. In that case, you wouold consider it to be an essential part of the sound being recorded. You can, however, always reamp.

Otherwise, it is just too easy nowadays to add them afterwards to ever justify adding effects when tracking. Processing, yes. Effects, no.

...or if you do not have a mixer where you can add the out-board effects during mix down.
