What can I use to get a reverb effect on my vocals when recording on a 4 track?

Errrrrrrrrr, probably an effects unit with reverb would work?

Alesis, digitech, Lexicon, TC Electronic, Yamaha, Zoom, ART, Behringer all make ones. More $ = better units. Lexicon has units that sell used for over $2500. But, you can get units that will work okay for less than $200 too. But remember, "buy cheap, buy twice"....:)

Good luck.

Hey, what Ed said is dead correct. Soooooo many reverb units out there. However, sell your 4 track and buy and 8 track minimum; or, buy a 16 track unit. Why? So you don't have to bounce tracks. If you bounce, you lose control over the levels of two tracks, or whatever you bounce. Thus, if you bounce bass, & keys to one track, you no longer can tweak the bass without tweaking the keys and they don't tweak the same way.

I use two reverb units at the moment: An Alesis Microverb II or III; I can't remember and I don't want to get up and walk into my studio to look. Also, I use a low cost Lexicon 100 which is a nice unit but has ambiguous controls -- the Alesis has much better controls but the Lexicon has some nice vibes.

So, once you get rid of your 4 track, you'll just have to sort through all the "verbs" to accentuate your verbal excusions through your mic.

Cydell,
You can use guitar FX (stomp boxes) if you have to...

Does your 4-track have inserts? If not, just run the mic straight through the stomp box (or pricier unit). You may need some XLR to ¼" converters depending on your mic and setup.

Alesis Nanoverb is cheap and not too bad.

you don't fancy the PC DAW option? N-tracks is about $35 and turns your computer into a 6, 8, or 24 track plus recorder, depending on how many tracks the PC can handle.

Sorry if that's redundant information or more than you wanted to be told.

I'm sorry but while the Nanoverb is cheap, it IS pretty bad.... for $150 more, you could get a huge leg up in sound quality (compared to the Alesis) and get a Lexicon MPX100...........
